The beach of Elafonissi is the number one rated beach in Greece and perhaps one of the best in Europe.

Because of the distinctive layout and the unique sand - color and feel - Elafonissi beach is a must for all visitors.

Up to a few years ago, Elafonissi was not an easily approached beach as the last road stretch to the beach consisted of a very bad rocky road - a distance of about 5 kilometers and suggested only for jeep owners. Today however, things are different, more people have the ability to visit it more times, rather than just once for the experience of visiting the beach.

Even today, due to its purity, it is not considered an organised beach, which is the direct result of it not having a "blue flag".

Editors Remark: on a lovely, warm, calm day, Elafonissi is the best beach in the world - offering crystal clear waters and a sight that many would not want to miss. On the other hand, on a wind day - it can be a hassle which should be avoided by the ones that do not want  to feel the cool breeze after a dip, the feel of sand in ones hair or the taste of sand in their food because of the wind blowing.
