A few years back, Nea Chora beach was one of the most popular beaches in Chania, not only with the locals but with the tourists as well. The beach hasn't changed since then, however, the local's choices differ and a lot more beaches have become organised.

You will find all sorts of things from the small shop which are alongside the beach, but the thing that always attracts is the number of great fish tavernas and restaurants. When you think fish, number one choice that comes to mind is Nea Chora.

The beach itself is very clean (also a blue flag holder) and the sand stretches for about 500 meters until the border of the next beach.

There are many activities on the beach but the most interesting is the canoe because you have the opportunity to paddle out to a small island just a little way out - something any amateur can do, however, you should be very careful on a windy day, as going around the small island can get you into trouble with the waves.
