Chania City "Old Harbour" |
The old harbour in Chania is considered
the most enchanting visit for any
person
that comes across it, either it is a foreigner or even for the Greeks
who live in other places other than Chania.
The magnificent beauty that the old
Venetian architecture offers and the amazing view from any part of the
harbour, as well as the narrow back alleys make people want to revisit
it time after time again.
Within the vicinity of the harbor, one can
find almost anything he/she desires - from food shops (restaurants,
tavernas, coffee shops, ice-cream shops) to cloths shops, souvenir
shops, bars, clubs, etc.
The
thing that really attracts people is the view of the harbour itself and
the visible logo of Chania which is the lighthouse (just look at our
banner). The lighthouse is accessible by walking along the harbour
(about 15-20 minute walk), a walk that will offer you the ability to see
at least half of it.
Within the narrow back
alleys
you can easily find a great deal of souvenir shops and when night comes
a small number of lively dance bars - such as the 22 year old (and still
going strong) bar of
Elmondo.
Some of the best and mostly recommended
restaurants of Chania are located in the Harbor or Chania, and just to
name some -
Monastiri Tavern and
Kariatis Restaurant, two different
places that are a must for any visitor.
